Elcon Associates, Inc. is seeking a BIM Coordinator to work out of our Beaverton, OR office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and support to Client.
  • Manage the model setup and maintenance.
  • Perform QA review of BIM files for maximum efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain BIM files using established file saving and storage procedures.
  • Responsible for the compatibility of all discipline’s BIM drawings for consistency of graphics, sheet layouts, scales, sheet numbers, title blocks, etc.
  • Work with the Project Engineer/Manager with project workflow to establish and maintain consistent graphic standards on individual assigned projects.
  • Provide over-the-shoulder training and mentoring support to other designers, engineers and various project team members on various common Platforms such as Revit.
  • Client communications performed under direction of the Project Engineer/Manager.
  • Follow client BIM procedures and standards.
  • Participates in coordination meetings with clients and other design consultant team members to resolve model clashes.
    Other Duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working in the industry with Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks or similar software
  • MS Office skills including Excel
  • Understanding and ability to apply Level of Design/Development/Detail (LOD) standards
  • Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred.
  • Demonstrated electrical design skills for industrial facilities, including conductor and raceway sizing, equipment sizing and selection, raceway routing, electrical load calculations, and other tasks as required.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Revit lighting, conduit and cable, and electrical panel schedules, and complex Revit parametric families.
  • Understanding of Electrical load classifications and their application in Revit.
  • Ability to translate electrical engineering and design into Revit and solid experience using Revit as a primary electrical design and engineering tool.
  • Must demonstrate strong ethical behavior while striving to produce quality work within project budgets and schedules.
  • Team-oriented mindset is a must.
  • Must understand the value of Client satisfaction.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task on several design projects.
  • Able to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness.

Elcon Associates, Inc. is seeking a senior electrical engineer to work out of our Lynnwood or Tukwila, WA office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical, managerial, and supervisory direction for projects in various market segments.
  • Perform technical activities including electrical system studies and electrical design for industrial, aviation, marine, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Provide supervision and direction for the preparation of construction documents including drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Work with marketing and business manager and other technical discipline leads in developing technical proposals and have a proactive role in marketing.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a strong team of dynamic engineering and design staff working on small, medium, and large projects.
  • Perform QC review for other project manager’s electrical design.

Required Qualifications:

  • PE with 5+ years’ experience in facilities, buildings, industrial, and/or marine project design.
  • Previous experience with consulting engineering firms with 5+ years is a must.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication, and management skills.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication to produce quality work within project budgets and schedules.
  • Strong understanding of the value of client satisfaction and demonstration of excellent communications skills with clients and other members of the design team.
  • Ability to work with designers, drafters, and administration personnel to meet projects’ deadlines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare AC and DC single line diagrams, metering and relaying schematics
  • Prepare electrical equipment layouts, conduit, and cable layout
  • Prepare power, lighting and grounding plans
  • Prepare conduit and ductbank schedule
  • Prepare cable and circuit schedule
  • Develop equipment procurement and installation specifications
  • Develop construction cost estimates
  • Conduct load flow, short circuit analysis, protective device coordination and arc flash hazard analysis
  • Perform voltage drop and grounding calculations
  • Be familiar with various electrical software tools including SKM PTW, Easy Power, ETAP and ASPEN
  • Other Duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • BSEE Graduate
  • 5 years of experience as an electrical designer or similar role
  • Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) or pursuing certificate

  • Supervise and prepare design and provide guidance in developing of the following substation outdoor drawings: General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views (Elevations), Detailed Bills of Material, Lightning Stroke Shielding Plans, Grounding Plans, Conduits, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details, Underground Conduit/Raceway Plans, and Control Building Equipment & Cable Tray Layout.
  • Supervise and provide design or assist in preparing and developing the engineering deliverables including one & three-line diagrams; relaying and metering; AC/DC schematics; control and relaying panel layouts and equipment wiring diagrams; auxiliary system design including batteries and chargers, AC & DC load centers, conduit, and cable sizing.
  • Lead technical discussion with customers or peers explaining the issue/problem as well as the decision process behind the solution.
  • Provide oversight/guidance to junior engineers.
  • Possess social and communication skills necessary to integrate into a team, as well as effectively communicate with peers and customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • PE licensure preferred

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical, managerial, and supervisory direction for projects in various market segments.
  •  Perform technical activities including, power systems studies, low and medium voltage distribution design for rail transit and water & wastewater treatment facilities. Experience with high voltage substation design is a plus.
  • Provide supervision and direction for the preparation of construction documents including drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Work with marketing and business managers and other technical discipline leads in developing technical proposals and have a proactive role in marketing.
  • This senior position provides the opportunity to manage, mentor and grow a strong team of dynamic engineering and design staff working on large and complex projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Oregon or California PE with 10 – 15 years of experience in heavy industrial and/ or rail transit. California rail transit experience is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with consulting engineering firms is a must.
